CSU graduate student Doug Sink, now in his third year at CSU, takes sculpting to another level. In this video, Doug works on elements of his sculpted piece entitled “Origins” at a coal forge. The forge, similar to the type used by blacksmiths to build armor for medieval knights, is a technology that dates back centuries. “Origins,” which also incorporates wood and wool, went on display this week at the University Center for the Arts.
For Doug, art is the most important part of his CSU experience. As a grad student, he has had the opportunity to teach classes in the art department as a TA. He hopes to one day teach art as a college professor.

Sam Novotny follows the football team wherever it goes. Although he is proud to be a CSU Ram, Sam is not just a team groupie. The senior from Boulder, Colo., is the Assistant Video Coordinator for CSU Football—a job that has taken him from Dallas, Texas, to Las Vegas, Nev.
Sam, who is majoring in applied computing technology, has been part of the Ram football coaches’ video crew for five years—following the team on its many trips around the country and helping to record all the action. What began as a college job for this sports fan has become a potential career path. In this video, MyCSU catches up with Sam in Las Vegas as the Rams face off against the UNLV Rebels.

At CSU, students interested in public relations can join the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). Members of PRSSA have opportunities to network with professionals, attend workshops and seminars, and travel to conferences around the country. A delegation from the CSU chapter will travel Nov. 6-10 to San Diego for the PRSSA National Conference.
Ashley Frost, a junior majoring in technical journalism, is the president of CSU’s chapter of PRSSA. As president, Ashley coordinates events and speakers that will help students hone their PR skills. In this video, PRSSA members learn about media relations from Bryan Simpson, the Media Relations Director at New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins. Turns out even breweries need good PR!

When it comes to fashion, Delta Delta Delta Sorority is leading the campus in defining what looks good. The women of Tri-Delt, led by member Melissa Still, hosted a fashion show on Oct. 20 that focused on positive body image.
Melissa, a senior majoring in apparel and merchandising, is currently serving as the president of the CSU Panhellenic Council. She used money from Tri-Delt’s Presidential Greek Vision Award to organize the event, called (Re)Define (Real)ity.
At the show, women from various sororities, as well as Miss Teen Colorado Emily Schlehuber and CSU VP for Student Affairs Blanche Hughes, took the stage to show that reality is not what is shown in magazines. Instead, the show focused on diversity, empowerment and pursuing a passion.
